Happy New Year’s everyone!

Anyone who knows me well can vouch for the notion that I’m absolutely in love with what I do for a living. I sincerely believe that I make some degree of difference, be it furthering the national discourse, providing insight or outright entertaining my fellow motorsport friends.

With that in mind, I like to go back from time-to-time and select a handful of stories or columns that I’m especially proud of. This particular list focuses on 2017 and serves as a best of collection.

This was an exciting season for me, my first full-time at Autoweek Magazine as the associate motorsports editor. The position delivered new expectations and challenged me to expand my horizons as a writer.

In addition to NASCAR, IndyCar and short track, the 2017 season sent me across the pond to Italy for a World Rally Championship round in Sardinia and a Formula 1 event in Austin, Texas. I even traveled to Akron, Ohio for the All-American Soapbox Derby.

From an entrepreneurial standpoint, this was an amazing year of growth for Short Track Scene as we added a full-time NASCAR Modified Tour writer in the form of the super-talented Paul Lambert. We opened up a Patreon fundraiser for the website and it is poised for incredible success in 2018.

It continues to be an honor and a privilege to be able to write about the sport I’ve loved since I was a kid. Thank you all for reading my stories, interacting with me at the track or on social media and coming along for the ride.

Here’s to an even-better 2018 and here are my 10 favorite stories from the past season.

As always, never apologize for living.
